Charleston Lifestyle & Documentary Photography

Families, Graduating Seniors, Couples, & Small Businesses

Charleston area on-location photography, including Isle of Palms, Daniel Island, and Kiawah Island.

I am a lifestyle and documentary photographer. Every session is personal to me and intentional from start to finish. My goal is for you to feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera. I believe the best image is not always the perfect one. It is the one that makes you feel something when you look at it.

Whether we are on the beach at Isle of Palms as the sun goes down, wandering the historic streets of downtown Charleston, or capturing your brand in the places where your work comes to life, I work with you to bring out your best. Sometimes I offer direction, and many times the moments are completely candid. Either way, what ends up in the frame is guided by connection, light, and story.

Your Brand is a Conversation. Let's make sure it sounds like you.

I work with Charleston small business owners, entrepreneurs, and professionals to create brand photos that show the personality, process, and purpose behind their work.Headshots, workspace images, and lifestyle portraits for your website and social media. All edited in my true-to-color style.

A Purposeful Approach

Everything is Planned in Advance. Wardrobe, location, and timing. Preparation ensures a smooth and seamless session.

I Run the Session. You Just Show Up. I lead with a steady, gentle confidence, even with the most energetic of groups. Whether I am directing a group of ten or waiting for a quiet moment between two, I have the flow handled. The experience is relaxed and enjoyable, often feeling more like time together than a photo session.

Intentional Locations. I choose our settings based on the light and landscape. By matching the right time of day with the right backdrop, I ensure the environment always works in your favor.

True-to-Color, Always. My editing is built on color fidelity. Vibrant and true-to-life tones do not follow trends. Your gallery will look as good in twenty years as it does the day you receive it.

Your Entire Gallery Delivered to You. You will never have to choose between favorites or pay for additional files. You receive every one of the best images from your session.

I have been photographing families, seniors, couples, and small businesses since 2020.

For family sessions, I offer three approaches because every family wants something a little different. Some want a more polished, lightly guided feel, while others want images that feel closer to everyday life.

Documentary: Unscripted but planned.
We plan the setting and activity ahead of time, whether that means a slow morning at home, a walk through your neighborhood, or an evening at the beach. Once I am with you, I stay close, move with you, and photograph the movement, personality, and small in-between moments that show what your family is like right now. This approach has little to no posing or prompting.

Lifestyle: Guided and intentional.
I provide direction and prompts so you never feel lost in front of the camera. This creates a more polished look while still leaving room for natural moments and personality.

A Blend of Both: Part lifestyle, part documentary.
Most sessions include both approaches. I direct and prompt for part of the session, then shift into photographing the activity, movement, and moments as they unfold.

We were a family of 9 celebrating our mom's 80th birthday. Amy captured everyone perfectly and we know these pictures will be enjoyed forever! Thank you for making everyone feel comfortable and capturing each person's unique personality!

What People Are Saying

I wanted to capture our "moment in time" here in Charleston. We are stationed here so we won't be here permanently. I googled photographers and stumbled upon Amy Quinn and I am so glad I did. She was amazing to work with. Her website was easy to navigate. She was very responsive as I tried to bring my "vision" to life. The pictures we received were TOP TIER. I ordered my photos and got them in time to give as Christmas presents. My family adored them. I would HIGHLY recommend booking with Amy. She is very professional, fun and an exceptional photographer!

Amy is a true treasure! She not only captured the most perfect moments of both our proposal (at 6:30AM SUNRISE IN SUMMERTIME) and later engagement photos, but she also made us feel comfortable and truly enjoy the session, which can be a totally miserable experience if done wrong. Amy was flexible with scheduling (she was kind and understanding during a newly bride to be wardrobe meltdown and later an emergency flat tire on the IOP connector!), she captured our personalities, and most of all our love and happiness for each other. Couldn’t imagine working with anyone else for one of the most exciting times in our lives. Thank you Amy! We are so grateful!

Charleston is a beautiful place for senior portraits, especially for those who want images that feel different from what everyone else is doing back home. We can walk the historic streets, head to the beach, explore the marsh, or mix locations to get the exact look you want.

For families visiting Charleston, travel takes everyone away from the usual pace of home, making it a natural time to plan a session. For couples, the city is a romantic setting for a proposal, engagement session, or special getaway.

I know this area well, from Hampton Park to South of Broad, the Battery, Isle of Palms, Kiawah Island, Folly Beach, and the surrounding Lowcountry. I can help you choose the right location so your photos reflect the way you want to remember your time here.

“It has taken me at least two weeks since our photo shoot with Amy to come up with words that can even begin to describe our amazing experience. I still find myself speechless from time to time and in total awe of the love she captured from behind her camera lens of my beautiful, little family.”
