Isle of Palms, South Carolina Golden Hour Engagement Session

What to Expect Before, During and After Your Photo Session

Curious about what it’s like to work with me? Let me give you a peek inside a typical client experience and share some of the photos I captured during a Golden Hour Engagement Session at Isle of Palms, SC.

Madi & Tyler wanted their Engagement Session at the beach, which is a special place for them. Tyler proposed to Madi on a beach not too far from our Isle of Palms location.

BEFORE THE SESSION

I like to spend time getting to know my clients. Gaining insight into their story and a clear understanding of why they are booking their session enables me to make authentic, memorable and compelling photos. My clients and I collaborate on the important details (dress, location, desired photos) and I share valuable information so they can easily prepare for their session.

This session, which could easily be described as a date, was a fun and romantic experience for Madi & Tyler. I acted as their guide, directing them from one activity to the next while I captured their love. They laughed, hugged, kissed, danced, laid in the sand, went for a walk and snuggled in a blanket during our session. They were so engrossed with each other that they often forgot I was there.

DAY OF THE SESSION

I love meeting my clients for the first time and when we do there is a sense of familiarity. Before I take out my camera, we chat a little and discuss what we’ve planned. This gives us time to continue to get to know each other and build trust.

After speaking with Madi, I had an excellent idea of the poses she wanted and the 3 of us we able to transition from one activity to the next with ease.

I like when my clients engage in activities that involve a lot of physical connection and movement. I give continuous feedback and direction and as we get into a grove my clients become more and more at ease and before you know it, they are having lots of fun and enjoying a memorable experience.

After we’ve captured a variety of looks and poses the session gradually comes to an end. I like to end the sessions on a high note- not when everyone one is tired of being in front of the camera. But I don’t put my camera away just yet. I keep my camera ready and document every last minute we have together. Often, the unexpected photos are some of the best.

An Engagement Session is a great way to capture your unique love story. A beautiful series of images will document this sweet time as you begin your lives together.

AFTER THE SESSION

I love sharing a “sneak peak” the same day as the session. Immediately after our session my clients are most excited and curious about what we've captured. The sneak peak is perfect for social media and for sharing with friends and family. Within 2 weeks the full digital gallery is delivered. Photos can be downloaded and my clients are encouraged to order prints with the print credit I offer in my online store, because I believe that photos come to life in print.

I reconnect with my clients shortly after they’ve received their photos and offer help with any special requests.

“They say pictures are worth a thousand words but Amy's left us speechless.

Amy photographed my fiancé and I a few weeks after our engagement, and we had the best time. She didn't position us in uncomfortable poses or force smiles from us. Instead, she gave us the freedom to be our authentic, awkward selves and we couldn't be happier with our experience. Amy came prepared with a whole bag of tricks and worked diligently (and effortlessly) to capitalize on all of the different lighting a sunset on Isle of Palms has to offer. We fed on her creative energy.

When she shared our gallery with me (and in such a quick turnaround), I couldn't help but cry. She took photos of two people she barely knew as if she had known us our whole lives. Without a doubt, she captured moments we will remember forever. I am so grateful to have our love represented in such beautiful photographs, and I couldn't recommend Amy highly enough.” -MB

Providing my clients with authentic, colorful and compelling photographs is the heart of everything I do. My hope is to develop long term relationships with my clients and photograph them at the various stages of their lives.
